Amount of each drug (novobiocin, tetrycycline, & prednisone) found in delta albaplex 3x
Q: I have an 8 year old yellow lab. he has lung problems. we (the vet and i) are unsure how he may have gotten into the current condition he is in. the vet said he basically has empysema, copd, and premanente damage to his lungs. we are thinking that possibly he may somehow have gotten water in his lungs when he was swimming and it went into pneumonia, we treated the pneumonia, but we possibly did not get it all treated and it festered causing permanente damage, this however is only one presumption. he seems to have periods when it is worse(ie. summer and fall) so maybe some of it is allergies, the vet is unsure. he coughs, has exerted exhaled breathing, and if not on the correct dosage of medicine will cough up greenish mucus. we limit his activity because if he gets to exerted his breathing becomes to fast and it is hard for him to relax and get his respirations down. the vet had him on delta albaplex 3x. one tablet twice daily, and albuterol sulfate 5ml 3 times daily. this was getting to expensive for us so we asked him (the vet) if we could get the 3 drugs individually. my husband works at the hospital and it is cheaper to buy the prednisone and the tetrycycline (2 of the 3 drugs in delta albaplex) through the phamarcy there. however, the vet has to order the novobiocin from a drug company, in which it is a liquid used for mastitis in cows (dry cow formula). we tried to just use the prednisone and the tetrycycline but he started getting infection in his lungs, so the vet put him back on the delta albaplex, that is when his office manager searched for the novobiocin and found it through another drug company. we put him on the 3 and he has me using the lowest dosage of novobiocin. my lab started getting infection again, so the vet my lab back on delta 3x for a week to see how he does. if he does better he said it just might be the way the delta albaplex is combined that works for him. my problem is that it is so expensive to keep him just on delta albaplex. what i would like to know is how come he just did not up the novobiocin amount, hence my question, do you know or know of someone who would know, how to find out the exact quantites of the 3 medicines (novobiocin, tetrycycline, and prednisone) make up delta albaplex 3x. i am trying to duplicate the delta albaplex 3x with the use of the individual drugs themselves. my lab seems to always do better with the use of delta albaplex so that is why i would like to know the amounts of each medicine so we can duplicate it. he is also still on the albuterol sulfate(liquid form) 5ml 3 times daily. i am sorry this was so lengthy but i wanted to give you a history of my dogs symptoms and the treatment that has been performed so that you would have some idea of what the situation was. thank you for your time.
A: The "delta albaplex 3x" has the following:|tetracycline 180 mg|novobiocin 180 mg|prednisone 4.5 mg
Shop for: prednisone

Applied frontline plus to cat
Q: 2 weeks ago, i noticed on my 28 lb cat as i was combing him, little black flakes, looks like someone sprinkled black peppar all over him. he is a house cat. i purchased frontline plus and applied 12 days ago. he is not scratching, but i keep combing him and still removing flakes. if these are flea eggs, will the frontline plus kill them, will they go away with me combing or should i get him dipped? he is very tempramental and does not allow anyone to treat him.
A: May not be flea eggs but in fact could be scaling disorder known as seborrhea or miliary dermatitis. only vet visit can distinguish as may need other treatment
Shop for: frontline plus, frontline

2 1/2 year old maltese dog
Q: My dog has a dry skin problem, i guess. i bought the oatmeal shampoo & conditioner from this company and it helped to begin with but now (during the winter months) it seems to make him itch more. i just noticed some white flakey patches on his stomach just the other day, coincidental to a bath the night before. what do i need to do to stop him from itching and to cure the patchy spots? thanks suzanne
A: Have him seen by your veterinarian. the cause of the itch needs to be identified so the appropriate treatment can be given.

Cushins diease
Q: Could you give me more information about cushins diease. our dog was just diagosis with it and the vet. suggested that he be treated with lysolbran because he is in the advanced stage of this disease. he is 11 years old and i would like to know more about this.
A: This is overactive adrenal gland function, which are glands next to the kidneys. it is either cause by an adrenal gland tumor or a problem in the brain causing the adrenal glands to secrete too much cortisol and other hormones which leads to the signs you likely see increased thirst, urination ravenous appetite, pot belly, etc. it usually can be controlled with drugs like lysodren but needs close monitoring from your vet during treatment
